"I returned to library work part-time when I had children so I would have more time to care for them. Having this time as well as flexibility in scheduling are the main advantages for my part-time position."
"I have been in this position for 25 years. It was particularly advantageous while I was raising my children and now it gives me a little time to enjoy my grandchildren."
"In some ways the advantages and disadvantages can be the opposite side of the same coin. The flexibility and minimum long term responsibility are acceptable because of my responsibilities at home."
"I want to mention that the people I work with are wonderful and give me challenging projects and support.""Ignorance due to the lack of communication concerning rules, programs, handouts, etc., is probably the most frustrating problem I encounter on a regular basis. Entire collections are moved and I'm not aware of the changes until I have a patron in tow and the material has disappeared."
"I have less chance to give input to decisions made or considered, and feedback on ideas I've generated or problems encountered is slow."
"Some people believe that part-timers are only partially motivated, whereas, we probably work harder in fewer hours than full-timers do."
